The Quilt Divas transformed the DFW core belief of "empowering women towards self-sufficiency" into a dynamic, nine-panel art quilt. Each artist researched an organization supported by DFW and illustrated the organization's efforts to aid women in Mali, Kenya,
Uganda, Thailand, Peru, as well as other locations.
The "Women Empowering Women" art piece will travel to other chapters and cities in the USA and will appear in quilting exhibitions and professional magazines.
“Women Empowering Women” can be seen at the Quilting By the Lake Quilt Show at Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, NY from July 18 through July 29, with1,000 people expected to attend. Visit the QBL website for directions and hours the show is open to the public. You may also meet several of the artists as they learn new techniques and hone skills at the two-week workshop and studio. The next trip will most likely be Atlanta, said Miriam Bisk, Chapter Leader of the Ithaca Chapter. "It is the hope of DFW and the Quilt Divas to further awaken and lead women around the country to become agents of change through their talents and gifts," she said.
