Gayle Tzemach Lemmon bestselling author of "The Dressmaker of Khair Khana" is making a special appearance in Scotts Valley, Ca on April 28th at 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, hosted by DFW's West Coast Regional Manager, Tamara Cucchiara and Santa Cruz Chapter Leaders, Sally Bookman, Cari Class and Tootsie Torres.
The evening includes meeting the author, followed by a special reading of her book, Q&A session and book signing.

"Women on the Bridge" on International Women's Day

DFW and Firelight Foundation are joining together to support Women's peace building efforts around the world. Two events are scheduled on March 8, International Women's Day:
International Women's Advocate & Recipient of the CNN Hero's Award Betty Makoni will be the Key Note Speaker for "Women on The Bridge"

on the River Street Pedestrian Bridge in Santa Cruz (Behind Ross Store) to mark the
100th anniversary of International Women’s Day
Last year over 20,000 people took part in the first ever global Join Me on the Bridge campaign www.womenforwomen.org/bridge with 119 events including in Afghanistan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kosovo, Canada, Mexico and Belgium. In 2011, hundreds more events, with thousands more people are being planned.

University of Illinois-Springfield Speaking Series

Marsha Wallace, Founder & President of DFW, will be part of a speaking series at the Univ. of Illinois. The first event is on Wednesday, March 2: "Changing Lives One Dinner at a Time: The Creation of “Dining for Women.”
On March 3, Marsha will introduce Greg Mortenson, co-founder of nonprofit Central Asia Institute, Pennies For Peace, and co-author of New York Times bestseller Three Cups of Tea and Stones Into Schools: Promoting Peace with Books Not Bombs, In Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Marsha will also speak at a Friday, March 4 dinner and presentation,"DFW Chapters throughout the world...Changing Lives, One Dinner at a Time."
